This study investigate the use of microwave assisted extraction (MAE) to improve the extraction efficiency of the classical solvent extraction techniques i.e. soxhlet extraction technique to extract antioxidant activity compounds & phenolic compounds from the leaves of Momordica dioica. The effects of different extraction conditions were determined, i.e. solvent type, preleaching time, particle size, drug solvent ratio, extraction time & number of extraction cycle. The most favorable conditions were obtained by using fine powdered material, extracted with water (D: S 1:30) at microwave power 160 w for 3 min for three extraction cycles. The result obtained using the optimized method compared with soxhlet extraction techniques; the MAE procedure provides low extraction efficiencies and is less labor intensive as compare to soxhlet.
